About Brad
The first word that comes to mind when I think of Brad is quirky. But, his quirks, most of which I find endearing, make life interesting! I never know what he's going to do or say, which always keeps me guessing. He can talk to anyone and makes friends everywhere we go. Whether he's busting out a dance move, attempting to tell a joke (but failing to make it through it without laughing too hard to speak), or clapping (extra loudly) to whatever music is playing, Brad is sure to capture people's attentions and hearts.
Brad is kind, smart, funny, and loyal. He is an amazing friend and partner, and he is a prime example of a great father to Silas. I cannot wait to expand our family and have more children with him. Most of the time, he is laughing, smiling, and a happy-go-lucky type of person. Brad's spontaneity helps balance out my need to always have a schedule and a plan. (But, if you're ever trying to make plans with us -- particularly that involve traveling -- please contact me and not Brad!!)
Brad and I are so different in so many ways, but we also have a lot of the same morals, likes, and dislikes. He may be the only person to truly think I'm funny; so, that's a plus too!
How we met
In May 2012 (just 2 months after Kara moved to northern Virginia for work), Kara's cousin, Mike, and his wife, Krista, told Kara they were coming up to the DC area for the chili cook off. Kara was VERY excited to have weekend plans, because she still did not have too many friends in the area. On Thursday before the chili cook off, Krista mentioned something to Kara about Zeus coming along. Kara acted as though she knew what Krista was talking about, but in reality, Kara went to work the next day and freaked out to her friend Laura saying, "I think some dude named Zeus is crashing at my place his weekend." Laura immediately exclaimed, "Is Zeus his real name? Who is he??" And Kara replied, "I have no idea if his name is really Zeus, but I hope not. Who names their kid Zeus? And I don't know who he is; I think he's Krista's brother."
Fast forward two days, and in storms Mike, Krista, and the mysterious Zeus into Kara's apartment. Kara isn't quite sure what to make of this Zeus character, but decides to roll with the punches and have a great day. It's pretty clear that it was love at first site for Brad (aka Zeus), and Kara figured she'd keep Brad around to see what he'd say next. If you want to get a good laugh, ask either Kara or Brad how their first one-on-one conversation went.
Just to put it out there, Brad was well aware of who Kara was BEFORE the chili cook off.... Apparently, he'd done some Facebook stalking and was determined to meet Kara, long before she even knew he existed. Good thing he was charming and entertaining enough to win her over when they finally met!
